Community Meeting – Material Culture of Japan
October 10, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This time, we will have an ideation session for our next potential Berlin Design x Kyoto craftsmanship project, which emerged from our last community meeting where we hosted our partner from Kyoto, RELEASE;
Two of the participants, Kilian Schneider who studied Geography and Juni Neyenhuys who studies Textile and Surface Design, will take off on a research expedition in Japan in Spring 2020. They inquire in an intimate relationship between Japanese people and their objects and tools through a lens of a Japanese unique mental concept “Aichaku” (a type of affection).
How can NION and RELEASE; in Kyoto create a collaborative process for Kilian and Juni’s research? What do you want them to try out in Kyoto? Anyone who is interested in inter-local co-creation process design and/or fascinated with Japanese aesthetics and artisans’ discipline, come join us!
