Whether you talk about social innovation or Intangible Cultural Heritage: you need a living relationship to pass it on or to incite learning.
We get inspired by the studio schools of the Renaissance, where there was enough space to provide for the balance between contemplation and study. Here body, mind and soul of the students had space to grow under the radiant guidance of the Master.
Yumi Tanabe, Japan Tea Ambassador
„I realized that Japanese Arts are very unique and interesting, as Japan is located in the Far East of the world and all the cultures end up there and have been recreated and refined in the iso- lated islands. When you sip tea, you can deeply enjoy this culture.“
Since 2017 Yumi Tanabe is a “Japan Tea Goodwill Ambassador to Germany” which means, she teaches Germans how to enjoy Japanese tea. She helps out at macha-macha, a Japanese tea shop founded by Erik Spiekschen. Mach-macha counts now amongst the best cafés in Berlin, attracting Japanese tea connoisseurs from beyond the city limits. While Spiekschen walked the Shikoku 88-temples tour, he realized that he had discovered something that he wanted to bring back to Germany: tranquility. Macha-macha is a place where you can find plenty of it.
